Georgetown is Penang (and Malaysia’s) famous food town! Located in the north east of Penang, Georgetown has a rich history and is a foodie and photographers dream with lots of local food, historical sites, famous street art and treasures to be found.

Once you’ve had your fill of Georgetown’s culinary and cultural offerings, we head leave the coast and head for sleepy countryside of Balik Pulau, which is located inland and literally means back of the island.

Nestled in a peaceful valley famous for its Durian plantations (the smelly green fruit that so many visitors love), Balik Palau is the perfect contrast to the hustle and bustle of busy Georgetown.

Situated amongst green rice paddies and fruit plantations and a sprinkling of colonial-era buildings intermingled with traditional houses on stilts, Balik Pulau is a sleepy serene agriculture district that reveals the origins of some of Penang’s most famous foods.
